squealing like a piglet in a slaughterhouse

as above really - there is a massive squealing noise coming from the wheels of my hgt. i think it is coming from the rear brakes-does anyone know what it could be? i have thought about blasting it with a pressure washer in case there is a lot of dirt in there causing it. the noise is also worse when the air temperature is higher - this morning at 9am they didnt make a noise, but then at 1.30pm they didnt shut up for a whole 25 mile journey!!

Wheel bearing, stuck caliper, quite a few things.

Try and find out what is wrong before going at it with a pressure washer, you could make it much worse/expensive.

i dont think its the bearing, tried moving the wheel side to side but it stays still - it could be a sticking caliper although i thought this would not be affected by heat? the hotter it gets the more it squeaks. i have tried heavy braking to get it to stop but it doesnt help either

Thats not a suitable test for a worn bearing. If you can move the wheel side to side while its got weight on it then the bearing is utterly ****ed.

Jack the car up and have a good look.

i think it will be taking a trip to a local garage..again. its been good for 10,000 miles and then in one week i hit a deer and the brakes make silly noises - altho its not related as the brakes were starting to squeak before the deer got involved. i thought it was the front pads at first (they were replaced a month ago) and the noise started just after that - then got worse in the past week. its been in the garage to have the front pads checked and greased (on the plate that goes between the pad and piston - something called a shimmy?) but this hasnt cured the problem.

i have hgt with same problem

its only when it get s real hot though....i.e metal expands....if u put up with it long enough it should go away i guess,or change ur pads and make sure ur cylinders working proper
