Hi People,

There is a squeaking noise in the clutch mechanism. Sounds to come from the inside of the gear box. I have sprayed 4D around the lever but it does not seem to go deep enough to sort out the noise. This is a hydraulic system. Has anybody experience this problem and any ideas how to solve it.

Cheers

My clutch pedal squeaks each time its pressed or released. – Its worse on hot days. Come to think of it – all my Uno clutch pedals have squeaked – Both 903’s and the 999 with hydraulic.

The only fix I have found is to turn the music up so can’t here it any longer. – Sorry not much help.

Mine had a squeaking clutch pedal, but it turned out to be a knackered cable. Not much help to you as you've got a hydraulic clutch!

Are you sure it's coming from the gearbox? I'm surprised it can be heard with the engine running :D

It could be something simple like the pedal itself making the noise. Maybe the bushes that the pedal pivots on have worn?

If it is coming from the gearbox, it sounds more like the clutch release arm or even the bearing itself. Only cure is to take the gearbox out and replace it/ them.

Also, be careful with WD40. The clutch release arm goes into the bellhousing where the clutch is. The last thing you want to do is get silicone onto the clutch plates else you'll ruin them.

If it changes gear fine and the pedal isn't stiff, I wouldn't worry about it. Just part and parcel of owning an old Fiat. Some people call it 'character'! :D

Do as Louie says and turn up the music. That way you won't hear it (y)
