Hammerite smooth will do the job quite nicely sir..Oh suits you sir..:D

Well, I just used a can of normal red spray paint. Didn't mention anything about a high heat tolerance on it, but after a few months, there's been no ill affects. Battery cover obviously doesn't get hot though, so it doesn't matter too much for that. Just make sure the paint will go onto plastic. Got a rubbishy craft spray paint for the battery before and it didn't really work to put it mildly.

I did around 2 coats of grey primer after cleaning them thoroughly and then sprayed about 3 coats of paint on. Came out pretty decent, though not fussed about the airbox finish as it'll be going when I get the induction done.

Anyway, here's a pic of mine if you haven't seen it...

cheers, yours looks great, goes well with the strut brace. i will give mine ago next weekend or something.

thanks

No problem.

Just remember to unscrew the bolts holding the airbox together and cover any bits you don't want paint getting into with decent masking tape and the like. You don't want to put layers of paint and primer over the gap and not be able to get to your air filter after all (y)

I took the screws out, removed the filter so I didn't get any paint on it and held the two pieces of the airbox together (with a slight gap so it didn't stick together) with bent matchsticks. Dunno how the JTD filter is, but guessing it may come in a few pieces. Either way, take your time with it and it'll look better for it :)

cheers muppet, i probably wont be doing the air box yet, just cant be bothered with the hasel of getting it out of the JTD, just going to do the engine and battery covers.

thanks for your help.

dave, yeah its the covers i will be painting.

cheers

even on the plastic cover i thought it would be best to get heat resistant tbh.... i just went into my local motosave and bought heat resistant silver and sprayed it on the battery box cover and engine cover... was quite surprised as it matched the car colour near enough :)

Somewhere in the body work section is a guy who did the covers with the italian flag, very very nice lookin i thought.

Hello JFL :)
