Technical Sporting that leaks everything! Time for 1242?

Just started to remove a large cover of the top of the gearbox. I assume the cover with the selector linkages going into it is the one. Will I need to disconnect the cables before I can do the job?

I've undone all the bolts from this plate but have just been forced to stop due to horrific rain, could somebody just comfirm I'm barking up the right tree?

The reverse cable has only one bolt and the reverse light switch fits into the front. You need to remove the reverse light switch to get the cable back in.

There was a gap in the rain so I ran outside, whipped the cover off hoping for the best and it was obvious about the three pins and alignment thing! Threw it back together, spent an hour or so wanging everything else back on the car and it's all done and complete!

Next door were pretty pissed off to be fair but I told them I was moving out in July and they just smiled and walked of which was odd..

changing an engine in the street, thats called "keeping it real" !!

reminds me of my mini owning days 88-92, used to pretty much the same, swapping engines at about midnight!! then starting it up without the exhaust pipe connected to make sure it ran!!
