Eh!! well i'm fitting the clutch on sunday so all ready then the misses comes home last night and said its getting harder to engage gears so i popped the bonnet for a scan, and no oil in the resevoir and only checked it last week, topped her up and bled the system but cant see no leaks, so ive removed the plastic panel under the ignition column and had a look as theres a cylinder on the pedal but all seems ok, anyway taking her for a spin with spare oil, wheres it all going, going to dig out my spare slave cylinder, the one on the gearbox now. Ant!

mine was like that when i got the car and after a while the clutch got worse and worse, toped it up and bled the system< took longer than expected with bubbles for ages, now its all ok. strange but previouse owner could have drained the fluid?

Well the mystery of the missing fluid has been solved! it was the slave cylinder on the gearbox was leaking, as i was changing the clutch yesterday i had a good look at her, flicked the rubber boot back and got covered in fluid. Thats fooked said my mate!! good job i brought along a spare so thats a fuel pump and assoc rubber pipes, osr caliper, fuel fiter to injector rail pipe, interior clock, that ive replaced out of my spares department, he he i think ive got my money back for the spare donor car i bought, Hindsight!, I was actualy thinking of selling some parts but now have changed my mind, must have saved over £300 in the month, Anyway ive finaly fitted the lightened flywheel and comp clutch and JESSSSUUUSSS CHRRIIISSST!!!!!!! what a drive home that was, what have i been missing, my mate with the integrale commented on how smooth and great she drives and handles, I actualy thought i was ice racing!WOOOTTSHS!! slide grip GRIP GRRIIPP!!! down the inside of mr lexarse who was grinning moments earlier. Ha Ha bye bye!! well ive handed the keys back to mrs Ant! and heard her driving up the road this morning and heard the wheels losing traction, waiting in anticipation for her coming home safetly! Ant!

Cool!

What was it like driving with the L & B FW?

Mine still isn't finished (there is no hurry and he knows that) but i keen to know if you felt much of a difference?

As you know i have the same clutch, were you happy with that too?

Ta

Tom

Alls well the clutch is so soft because its hydraulic, and i felt the weight of the two flywheels in my hands and there was a noticable difference just using my hands as scales (2kg) and as soon as the turbo comes on boost it surges and pulls strong all the way up the guage, it was a little bit damp and did scrabble for grip, god knows what it would be like with the turbo turned up to a bar, in the dry AWESOME!!! in the wet brown pants, think i'l wait to fit the turbosmart or maybe go for one with a 2 stage (one for the misses and one for me he he ) my mate who helped fit the clutch said they are good units and he wasn't wrong, hes fitted quite a few and no nasty stories. this car is already famous around here soon to be a legend!! Ant!

yo ANT! what type was the original clutch of yours? i mean what type comes in with genuine fitting in Uno? Mine has a harder clutch too and its pain driving through traffic jams.

I need to know if I can get it soft, soft as oranges :)

The one i have just fitted is a techniclutch organic heavy duty type and feels standard, and is softer than oranges he he, its like putting your foot in a sara lee sponge cake, thats maybe down to the hydraulic clutch setup (very nice and easy) sounds like you have the its either ON!! or OFF!! clutch that some may go for, (4 paddle racing types) but iv'e drove cars with them in and its not for me or mrs ant who drives the car, A standard clutch like luk or valeo are good clutches, what uno do you have, have a look at the setup is it a cable or hydraulic, mk2 or mk1 Ant!
