Right, me and my big gob.

Went to use the car last night. It has been stood a week covered in snow so I decided to use it rather than the old banger and when it eventually did fire it rattled very loudly. I thought it was just a cold diesel. I switched it off and that was it...won't start at all now.

Next job is to call the dealer and see what we are to do with it.

Aaaargh......

It may be worth calling out the AA, and see what they diagnose first. They have been out when my Stilo broke down [broken coil pack], and gave me a top notch service.

Did you get any warning lights at all? Is the battery dead?

The battery is ok.....I think it was only firing on 3 cylinders or now maybe two as it won't start....it fires once then nothing.

The equivalent of the AA have been sent by Fiat and I'm still waiting!

Let you know.

Paul

(I can't believe it! everybody else has had problems except me and today of all days as I'm busy at work and want to get back for 5 a side!!)

On many FIATs, the coil packs are in pairs so go down 2 cylinders at a time. I remember my old Cinq SX doing this and it could barely turn its self over and sounded like a barge being floored. It went whilst I was overtaking on a dual carridgeway too. Straight down to an almighty 19bhp! lol.

If you are confident removing your spark plugs, start the engine and remove them 1 at a time to diagnose.

Sounds like a plan but I don't have any spark plugs.......the ADAC man after plugging in his computer said perhaps it's a knackered injector. At the end of the day the car is under warranty so I let the little man get on with it. It has disappeared to a dealer and hopefully reappear fixed. They offered a replacement car but I have a banger so I refused.

The ADAC man did manage to get it started with half a gallon of easy start and the engine sounded like I described so I am waiting to see what will happen.

Cheers ma dears

I'm confused  ,your signature states a JTD but you suspect the coils??????

Can you give more info on whats happening(or not happening)?

I think Stu has misled the thread a bit by mentioning his Stylo.

I rang the garage today and they said it was some kind of sensor or Injector controller that has packed up.

It may be ready tomorrow or may be not.........

New pump, already?! :(

Out of interest, what brand of diesel do you use?

No idea, the sticky, none evaporating smelly stuff from the nearest garage.

Usually BP or Shell ordinary grade Diesel.
