Has anyone any experience splitting the prop-shaft to replace the centre support/bearing?

I have read a few threads on here but none seem to go into much detail re splitting the prop.

(2006 Panda)

Thanks

I’m bumping this thread as I have the same question. I’ve read one other post on here where someone separated the propshaft to fit a new centre support bearing.

Anyone done it and how difficult was it to fit a new bearing?

It been done a few times but there's no photos on here to my knowledge

I believe they are held together like a drive shaft to gearbox and takes some force to separate

No a Panda but similar to the photo below

You will need a pair of Fox wedges. They are best used interlocking to give a parallel push but you might get away with one on each side. At £15 each they are no cheap and you will need two at least.

Search "Fox Wedge" on eBay. You might find one thick enough or might need a steel strip spacer between wedge and parts you are separating.

You "can" make you own with some 1/2 inch thick steel bar and an angle grinder but it's a lot of metal to hack away from the thin end.

Big blunt chisel always works for me. Although I haven done the pandas prop. Just done some ball joints and drive shafts on an I10 and Panda and its all I used
