speeding!!

Hi

Does anyone on here know of a way to get off a speeding fine? we got caught doing 87 in a 70 dual carridgeway. It was one of those white vans but on the other side of the road... got me through 4 lanes and the middle barrier and I was the slowest car being overtaken by 3 cars! must of got us all. It was in cardiff.

As far as I was aware the van has to be on the same side of the carrige way as you!

I may be wrong though.

You're a brave guy posting on here about speeding. Be prepared for loads of posts about a) how stupid the speed laws are, and b) how you should be more careful and less irresponsible !

Doubt you will get off it. You've been caught bang to rights, especially with photo evidence.

Pay up and learn a valuable lesson

as far as i know if it was the picture type radar it only has to have a picture of your plate on the car with the speed logged, as per gatso. dont think it matters what side. as far as getting off goes make sure it gets to you within 14 days - max time to remember the events in the eyes of the law.
i only know of one person getting away with a photo charge , and all he done was say someone he hates was driving. there is also the one about it is inadmissable if you dont sign the form but I think that's probably closed by now. if you have no points on your license yet insureance companies wont be bothered about one minor offence.

Mmmm. How come a copper can "familiarize" himself with his car, but an ambulance driver can't save someone's life, getting a donated organ from A to B as quickly as possible?

Yeah sorry guys just a small worry with my job and having 6 points on license. Wanted to avoid it if I could but willing to accept it. Just wanted to get home asap and didn't think they could get you across the 4 lanes. Thanks anyway for all comments.

28000 people didnt acknowledge there speeding fines last year and they only chased up 1000! i would take my chances lol

Basically the biggest loop hole in this speed camera scam (sorry “campaign”) is the police have 28 days to inform you that you've been caught speeding by a camera, so it's easy to get out of because they don't send out they're Notices of intended prosecution by recorded delivery.

Ignore the first letter they send you. Then about two months later they will send you another one saying "fill out the form we sent you or we will send you to court etc......." Reply to this letter saying, don't know what your talking about I never received a letter, it must of got lost in the post. They will then send you another form to fill out. Send it back with a covering letter saying they are braking the law because they didn't inform you within 28 days of the alleged offence.

Worked for me. No court appearances or any crap like that.

It was on the A499 from Cardiff to M5 it was as above a dual carridgeway with the van located on the other side of the road. Yes recieved first letter today saying doing 87 in a 70. Loads of people will have been caught becuase it was after the FA Cup final. Will they not refer to photo and look at who is insured on the vehicle to see who it was? So if I ignore this letter... wait to see if they send one within the 28 days again and if not they by law cannot charge you?

It doesn't matter who's name is on the insurance document, becuase anyone who is insured on their own car fully comp can drive your car (with your consent) and is covered third party. This is why they send you a form (NIC) for you to incriminate yourself, which is ilegal in itself becuase you have the right to remain silent and you are innocent until PROVEN guilty. Also they won't send you a second letter within 28 of the NIC becuase you have 28 days to send it back to them. I got the second letter about two months after the first NIC.

That's probably because you are too young in the eyes of your insurance company. I always ask if I'm covered to drive other cars when I apply as Fully Comp cover doesn't always mean you can drive other cars.

I was told im not allowed to drive other cars even though im fully comp. My mate was told he was covered, I was not happy and complained. Basicaly they sed he should be because hes under 25. A week later he got was stopped and was given a producer. He went to the police station and they sed he wasnt covered. Luckily he had done this straight away and didnt wait till the last min so he still had a few days to go back. He rang up the insure company and they gave him insurance to cover the producer because they had recorded the phone call when there guy made the mistake.
