Has anyone else had trouble with these when changing them? I tried to do these and the leads and was highly unsuccessful! For starters it took me about 10 mins to get the air box off (FIRE engine). i then took the leads off, again a pain as they were so tightly fitted to the distributor. then another 5 minutes to get the lead off the plug. Eventualy get there and find that the plug wrench i was lent is far too big. Ahhhh!:bang: so i did abit of rooting about in old tool boxes and nothing, Great! So i thought OK i'll do all the leads anyway whilst i'm here. 1, 2 and 4(from right to left) were a struggle but nothing frustrating. 3 is not a lucky number! its hidden under the fuel mixer/sender and took me a good 10 minutes to get it off, eventually having to remove the electrics that go to the injector. Panda's are such hard work! My porter manual made it sound so simple!

Another thing i noticed was patches of oil. The breather pipe from the air box to the top of the cylinder head next to the oil cap was really oily. I expected a bit when it does run hot it may bubble out, but i'm sure it shouldn't this much! Also, on top of the gearbox, just right of the clutch there was a puddle of oil... i couldn't see anywhere obvious for this to have a leaked from... Ideas?

Its normal to have some oil in the breather pipe

The spark plugs on my 999cc were quite easy, had to unbolt the plate that holds the throttle cable in place to get one of them out but it literally took me 5 minutes to change all 4 plugs. I didn't try taking the leads of the distributor cap though.

I did it on boxing day. piece of pi55, just forgot to reconect number 4. Puzzled me what was wrong for a second until I got the airbox back off

I had another go earlier. Couldn't manage at mine so went to my granddad's and we found that the plug size is smaller than first thought. Luckily he had a socket to fit, so we removed them one by one, until we go to number 3, under the injector. No way that was coming out. Cleaned them up and re gapped them and refitted so all was ok until we started her up. She started fine, but the was a pong of petrol, The hose from the canister on the left wing to the injectors and split and was pi$$ing petrol all over the engine mount and gearbox. So cut the hose and re connected. This is not easy!!!:bang:

I now need to go and buy some fuel pipe and swap the plugs i bought for ones that will fit. Busy saturday i think.

Is that the charcoal canister pipes your on about

Sounds like your having a right time with your Panda at the mo. All will be ok in the end though :p :slayer:

Possibly, its fixed on the inside of the wing. I think Someone's mentioned about it before. I'll be consulting the haynes manual later

Yea, that would have been me. In the wing (have to remove the wheel arch protector/liner to get at it).

Seems strange. Shouldn't have a 'live' fuel supply going to it, and coming from it there should be only minmal fuel

Let us know how you get on with it (y)
