General  Spare wheel

Well we got a Trekking last year and had a puncture last week...
We only have the Fix and Go kit, yeah that wasn't going to work.

Called Ciao Fiat at 6:15pm -
No problem we will get someone out to you in the next hour.
*Chasing for the next 2 hours asking where the van is etc*
9:15pm - Flat bed arrives to pick us up and take the car home
---NEXT DAY---
7:30am - Flat bed takes car from home to closest dealer
1:00pm - We are having problems locating a wheel for your car
4:30pm - We need to order one - it's £97, It should come tomorrow
---NEXT DAY---
10:00am - Sorry the Back Order is going to take a week to get here - Trying to source another
1:00pm - Sorry the only place we can get these is from Germany - Do you want a Standard 4x4 Winter Tyre we can get these done today as long as the Fiat Engineer is happy about the Tread etc.
4:00pm - Collected One Trekking with 3 Mud and Snow Tyres and one 4x4 Tyres

Moral of the story, get a spare tyre for the Trekking.

Might be something I look in too...

No moral is get a spare wheel whatever you drive. I have had 2 Punctures in the last 100K miles. Both needed a spare wheel, so I am now happy that I bought one with the car. I personally think a proper wheel and tyre are required, as if a long way from base it is questionable if a space saver is safe. If the wheel is damaged you avoid the sorry saga involved here.

Best practice advice is that space savers should always go on the rear axle to avoid dangerous under steer particularly on wet roads. Power induced under steer is a serious issue on narrow tyres.

Hi.
I'll make a plywood section and use the boot "carpet" as a template. This will keep everything level in the boot and stop any heavy items sagging the carpet. I might see if its possible to have the spare upside down so the tolls can sit inside the wheel if not it still might be possible to wrap the tools in cloth and place them in the boot floor prior to securing the spare to the floor.
