My mum has had her 55 reg Panda 1.1 for donkeys and has to give up driving due to having a new hip and old age. She's in her late 80's and sometimes thinks she'll drive again, she won't....

I have a Dacia Duster Hybrid and pranged it on a roundabout in early July and I've got mum's car to hoon about in because its better to drive than the 73 reg Corsa 1.2 the repair garage has given me, its OK on a long run, but its awful...

Its a bad day for Vauxhall when a 20 year old Panda is nicer to drive around town and the lanes than a 7000 mile Corsa

The great thing about a Panda is that it is a great people carrier, its easy to get the old and infirm in and out, so I'd like to take the Panda on and put my sister on the insurance so that if she has to run anyone anywhere she can use the Panda.

The thing is there is only one key, its just the basic key and I was wondering where to go and how much a spare key for my sister would be

You can probably find it a bit cheaper around £60

Seems I bit of a jump, the going rate for a clone mechanical keyboard to start and open the panda was £35 only a few years ago

Leave it with me for a bit

When the cloning was £35 the equipment to do you own was £35 plus you needed a key plus you needed it cut, So it was still cheaper to just go to an auto locksmiths and get it done

I haven't checked for awhile

Only had a quick search

Cheapest key programmer that can clone the mechanical key I could find

VVDI bee lite @ a touch over £40 free shipping but possibly some taxes, never tried it but downloaded the program and it says it works, that's on my account not sure if it's the same price for everyone, software only works on Android phones with USB C connector

Key cut to photo £10

Transponder to program plus a spare £2

Cheapest known to work for a remote
KM100e from Auteldiag @ £285.

£9 key
£9 cutting

If your car is an active.all the bits to make work with a remote might be missing

Technically it's not the cheapest

Zed Bull + EFfl software at just over £30

But there's some pitfalls, not every Zed bull clone will work and finding a copy of the EFfl software without viruses will not be easy

Whoops wrote this sometime ago and didn't hit the post reply button, senior moment

So the cost of the equipment plus key plus transponder, does not make it worthwhile for 1 mechanical key, assuming you ring around and get it for around £60

Where as it cheaper to produce your own remote fob than Timpson but there are still a few places that do a key for £150-250 if you phone around
