Hi all, Got a Fiat 500l under 2 years old, when I bought it the dealer did not have the spare key and posted it on to me. I couldn't find my keys today and grabbed the spare key which opened the car but would not start the engine. I bought the car 7 months ago 2nd hand and stupidly never tested the spare key when it arrived
Does anyone know if keys are covered under warranty or is it just a simple recoding required?
Thank you all
Davie

It has not been programmed at all.
Replacement keys, even from Fiat, will need programming to the car. This needs car and all keys to the dealer together.
As teh used car dealer just sent the new key, perhaps he's like to arrange for recovery to the dealer for it to be programmed, as this could have been done earlier, if he'd bothered to mention the procedure. Him not knowing the procedure is not an excuse, he's supposed to be the expert.

I did this with my mums A class:eek:

took the "spare" Merc key to do it's MOT" ...remote wouldn't unlock car..so flicked out the key blade.. wrong key..:bang:

person who actually bought the car, took it the 40 miles back to used car lot, and they sifted through a large tin of keys until they found one that DID unlock the car, and start it..,

@ 18 months after purchase..
