Technical Sooty black spark plugs

Hi everyone I have just noticed my spark plugs are black withe dry soot. Could this be to do with my timing being out having recently changed head gasket. I also had to replace the ECU for a self learning one could this also be the problem until it sets it's self up.

Could be the latter, the former, I doubt it.

If the outside is sooty but the electrode is fine, forget it, you're just driving too slow.
