I have the chance of some sweet alloys for my car. They are from a Fiat 500 Competizone which has had the SS kit fitted. His wheels are for sale and i want to try them for my GP

Someone put it in black and white for me what i need to do/get to make these fit my car. GP is 4x100, 500 is 4x98. This is as far as my knowledge goes on the technical side of all this.

So if someone could be kind enough to just lay it simple for me in terms of, i need to get this, i need to get that, i have to do this...and bam alloys look monster on my GP :D

The GP is 4x98 not 4x100 also the PCD is the same in both the 500 alloys as the GP but I do believe the Off set is differnt so mind need to find out how much and wether they would fit, hope this helps :)

your wrong, GP IS 4X100 i guarantee it. same as vauxhalls

4 x98 i would assume needs wobbly bolts, you need centre bore of 56.6 otherwise if its smalled, spigot rings needed.

Just found this on another thread;

Punto Evo Abarth:
PCD:
4x100

Center Bore:
56.6mm

Offset:
cannot find anywhere

Fiat 500 Abarth:
PCD:
4x98

Center Bore:
58.1mm

Offset:
35

Don't know how relevant that will be for my GP.

How would the offset be altered (if that can be done) to make it work. Spigot rings are easily enough aquired right? Are there quite conventional sizes available, or would they have to be made specifically to allow me to use 500 alloys on my GP.

Yeahhhh, i don't know what i'm talking about i'm not going to lie here :yuck:

Off set on punto is 43 and 500 is 35 so the GP sits further away from the hub If im correct, correct me if im wrong and the 500 wheels would fit further under the arch?

Just noticed that you quoted my post :D

Right ALL, and I mean ALL type 199's are the same be it grande punto, punto evo or the new punto 2012. They ALL have the GM 4x100 w/ 56.6mm center bore as the punto 199 is just a corsa. Makes it easier to find alloys :)

As for offset, I'm sure that the punto (Non abarth) is 43, but the abarth is slightly more.

So in short, to make 500 wheels fit a grande punto, you will need wobbly bolts and a 0.75mm walled spiggot.

HTH

EDIT:
Sean, the offset works backwards, So a higher offset means that the mounting face is nearer the outer rim.

Ha, didn't realise qouting your post from another thread months back would pop up in your feed. I suppose it proves helpful!

So if i get wobbly bolts and a walled spigot ring of 0.75mm i can make these alloys in question fit without drama, and to quote myself earlier "They will look monster on my GP"

:D

Ok, initial search for a spigot ring is proving fruitless. Do you search for a spigot with the correct centre bore of the car. So 56.6mm. Searching for spigots with the terms 'walled' and even '0.75' doesn't come up with anything on eBay. Search spigot i get millions, but for everything from Corsa's to BMW M3's ect.

Don't know what i'm looking for exactly.

No worrys sean :)

Trying to get a 0.75mm without a special order will be difficult, You might be as well as trying to get a 56mm bore exhaust pipe and cut a 10 mm section off it because you are only going up 1.5mm in size.

Am I the only one, or is there someone else who thinks the idea of fitting wobbly bolts to correct the bolt pattern, spigot rings to correct the center bore, and spacers to correct the offset is bordering on being absurd?

The price of the wrong wheels would have to be better than free for me to consider such a scheme. Last year I went shopping for some alloys to use with winter tires on my GP and I found a HUGE choice wheels in the correct size. Many were reasonably priced.

Yes it's just you, wobbly bolts are perfectly safe.

Is it just me that thinks the term 'wobbly bolt's does sound somewhat disconcerting :D I have often wondered if they are safe as many people shout the idea of them down. However, how many of these people are just 'jumping on the band wagon' for arguments sake,

As said, its an option open to me, and if it can be done, and can be done safely i think Fiat 595 Competizione alloys would look slick on a GP. Its an idea in the pipeline for the time being :)

I wasn't commenting on safety, per se or just about wobbly bolts alone. The thread seemed to be drifting in the direction of wobbly bolts and spacers, and spigot rings to MAKE the wheels in question fit since the bolt spacing, center bore, and offset were all three in question.

When shopping for wheels, wouldn't you look for a different set if the ones you found required wobbly bolts AND spacers AND spigot rings? ......... or even two of the three.

I mean, at some point, wouldn't you tell yourself, "Move on........ keep shopping ............ these aren't the wheels for me"?

If this is the logic people used all the time there would be no such thing as car "modding" and sites this this would become pointless... and are you honestly trying to say you haven't added or fitted anything to your car that has taken some adjustment or modifying at all? I personally would much rather go to the very SMALL effort of buying some correction bolts and spacers for some quality wheels than just "moving on" and getting less appealing one just because they will bolt strait on with no fuss.

So to answer this very confusing thread that was intended to be (clear and simple) yes they will fit with correction bolts and spigot rings and they would look sweeet!(y) ahhhhhhh!
