Soldering problem!

ok got my soldering kit today and tryd soldering the four pins on the key switch. everytime i solder it.. th soldering comes lose and comes out! what can i do now! ahhhh!!!

you need to clean and prepare the surface first.....and use good solder, the cheep stuff is often a false economy

as well as being flux cored you could use flux on it as well, As said, Work surfaces mist be clean and heated to the temperature required to make the solder run
practise on a bit of old stuff until you get the hang of it

thanks for the replys. it doesnt just stick i think i will try flux solder see if that is any better.. i got it soldered the 1st time.. the car locked and unlock but when i press the button on the key the red light stays there for like a min and then the car unlocks. 2 lock it the same! how come?

there are 2 possibilitys

you got solder were you shouldnt have got solder, or its not sitting exactly in the right place on the board

also be carfull as one of the legs of the switch sits VERY close to one of the chips, to much heat or a slip, or run off solder could cause damage

make sure you get the place were you want to put the solder hot first

(what thickness are you using, it needs to be fine for this work, i think mine was .5)

again, preparation is key here as it just wont stick if its not clean

also, you have never done any soldering before. Never put solder on the iron and carry it to the work. Heat the joint to be soldered and just put the solder on the heated joint. Very fiddly job because the joints are very close. I use a magnifying lens for fine work and clamp the pcb

if you heat the solder, you just end up with a huge blob of solder on the tip of the iron....what could go any were

stupid as it sounds, a soldering iron iron thats to hot can cause just as many problems as one thats not hot enough

thats why you get them variable wats
