soaking print heads

basically i have a cannon ip4000 and pritn head has become blocked on black
i went to shop to get solvent they dont stock it then she said best way is to soak it for a while is this ok its got electrical connections on the black

somthing like this just one less slot

Just stand it in water deep enough to cover the bottom of the head - a few millimetres. Even if the contacts get wet, just make sure the head is fully dry before refitting it.

After soaking, use absorbent paper towels to ensure you can 'draw' ink from the head. If you can't, soak it longer.

and how about soaking the entire ink assemly overall it dont matter if its dry?
