Oh yeah, the main point of getting the selespeed was to remove the clutch.

Precisely. It's so relaxing. I must admit I wouldn't buy another car without it.
I have a dodgy left foot and gets lots of pain after a short while using a clutch so I need the selespeed.

Hi Guys,

I will be going into Thames Fiat this weekend to test drive the GT and most likely placing my order. Any ideas on haggling? I'm rubbish at this sort of thing but then I don't have a great bargaining position as I am trading in my Punto.

Also, the fact I am having most (if not all) options fitted, including upgraded HiFi, 5 disc CD changer, Sat Nav+ and GP kit.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Teg

Make sure if you order it in Tiziano red or imola yellow( which are solid colours not pearl effect or metallics) you get them to throw it in as I believe they charge for those colours which is a total p1ss take! (n) Also I would try & get them to chuck the upgraded hi-fi in as well if you're spendind all that money on CN+ & the GP kit. (y) Good luck & all the best I'm sure you'll love it! once you've got it post some pics? ;)

A word of advice Teg, make sure you get a very good price.

The Stilo is probably one of the worst depreciating cars on the market, approx 50% in 1 year a £15.5k list car will be worth about £7.5k 1 year down the line! I know I shouldn't say this don't buy it brand new unless you really want to keep it because when you come to sell it on you'll be stung big time. Fiat Dealers can offer large discounts as a result of the eye watering depreciation (it's the only way they can sell the Stilo) so aim for atleast a £3k discount along with the 0% interest free offer. Not sure how well you'll get on with discounts on the special edition model though.

I'd personally would forget the GPS system if I had to pay for it. There are better systems on the market for less money and you can take them with you when you sell the car. Off course it was standard on my car so I can't complain. Amazing how Fiat can sell a car with far less equipment for the same money, even more reason to get a big discount.

Oh I was just offered a £4.8k discount on a brand new pre-facelift Alfa 147 from a dealer but have decided that the boot is too small (280 litres!!!). Shame couldn't convince the wife to take my car either. If Alfa can do that sort of discount so can Fiat.

Whatever you do don't come back on here telling us you couldn't get an amazing deal, in fact go for the jugular, walk in tell them you are here to buy a Stilo Abarth/GT and will pay no more than £10k for it.

Go to Jamjar.com or similar and spec the car up there, then take that info and price to the dealers and ask them to match it or get as close as possible. It's worked for a lot of people on here in the past (y)

I got over my car for just over 13k and it was specced up to just over 18k at a dealers, so depreciation in that first year didn't matter much to me.

You have got me thinking about an after market Sat Unit, however, then again, I don't want to be mucking around installing something in, which looks ugly and out of place. I also like the feature of having the phone built into the car, I find those bluetooth headsets annoying (small ears). Then again, I am hardly on the phone, so even that is not a major issue.

I will try to get the best deal I can. Afterall, I can walk out and order it online!
