I can smell the leather...

Just put my Punto up for sale on Autotrader and the Classifieds on this forum! Just a few weeks before I go to the dealership and get an amazing deal on my Stilo Abarth. This has been a long wait. This dream began in April 2003, when I sat in the Abarth for the first time :)

Not long to go now, lads... the final straight!

Nice one! (y)

Which, manual or selespeed.

Had mine for 6 weeks now and can't get over how good it is. Just in the planning stage of making it better though ;)

.................... I'll get a re-map one day .... one day

..... and I've got a colour coded battery cover and a Silver engine cover so :nerner:

No you won't 'cause they don't do one! :p :D Engine covers look great though! :D (y)

Selespeed!

I see a broom yellow Stilo fly down the A404 at least once a week. I work down the road in Cookham Dean, so perhaps we could meet up sometime?

I also need advice on making sure I screw the dealership down to a good price. So far my wish list is as follows:

*Maruno Blue
*Sunroof (not Sky)
*Upgraded Audio System
*GP Kit
*Reverse sensors

(Can't think of anything else?)

I should have a good deposit from the sale of my Punto.

Thanks for the feedback guys, can't wait to join your club. Been waiting since April 2003, to get a Stilo Abarth. :D

Nice one! IMO though don't buy the GP kit, It'll be much cheaper doing it all yourself. (y)

The reason I want it direct from the dealer is this, I do three things with my car

1) change the oil
2) put petrol in
3) drive it

I am incapable of doing anything else and do not trust myself to buy and install my own GP kit! (You must be having a laugh!) So I would prefer the dealer do it and I pay the premium. At least it is fitted from day one and there is no fannying about. I can imagine me getting the wrong parts and doing a 'cowboy' job on it and making my brand new car look like a mess!

Have a look in my gallery mate I don't think I've made a mess(least I hope not :D ) The point is if you buy the parts yourself you'll probably save up to £1000. & besides you can always ask anyone on here if you get stuck. (y)

Thanks for the advice and you must think I am mad to want to throw £1000 extra on it, but I just am not a DIY person. I'd rather pay to get something done right. I can't even change a tyre (that should sum it up!)

Wahtever else yopu go for stick with the Reversing sensors - I KNOW it's extra electrics which can (and probably will, being a FIAT) go wrong, but they are just the Dogs ********!

Doesn't adding options to a new car mean you get the added bonus of them being covered under the warranty too? :chin: I think this may be a smart move, if you're so intent on adding the GP kit ...

That could well be me - Black bump strips, Oval exhaust, 17" 5 Spokes, Vague looking bloke driving ... I go up and down the 404 up to 4 times a day.

My Mrs works in Cookham Dean :)

Funnily enough, this morning at 9.30am, I got a call from the salesman at my local dealership (Thames) keen for me to still have a interest in the Stilo. Of course I have, but I'm not telling him that!

Just need to get rid of my Punto and fast!

Oh, I hate this bit, the wait before I can go to the dealers and place my order! Then the wait for delivery!

I'm so excited, but still not sold my Punto yet :(

I saw a great Stilo today (not sure if it was Abarth) but mid blue, with passive spoiler, driving up the M40! My heart sank!

I want my Stilo, now....

but I suppose all good things are worth waiting for...

Due to very little interest in my Punto JTD, I'm going to see the dealer on Saturday and find out the part exchange price.

Still going for the Stilo Abarth, with full spec toys and all (GP kit!). Just going to see what they offer me and the final trade up price I get. Then I'll compare with the online guys (JamJar and others).

Yet, I've been well informed that Thames Fiat over in Slough will be keen for my business. Afterall, I purchased my Punto from them three years ago and have been a good customer, but who knows.

I'll let you guys know how I get on. Any advice before hand?

Regards,

Teg

I went to the dealer this morning and got offered a great price for a part exchange for my Punto. However, here comes the bad news.

Apparently Italy shuts down over the summer holidays and no cars are produced to order over August. So therefore they cannot find me the Abarth Selespeed at all. They could offer me a 5 door, or a manual. The thing is I want Maruno Blue and that is not a popular colour.

Not sure what to do guys, I'm so close to placing my order. My friends (who works at the dealership) recommends I just ring around and see if they can find me the car I want in stock.

Also, most of the features on the Abarth are now options (Sat Nav+ etc) which puts the final price up, but I am confident I can haggle the dealer down a few grand. We shall see.

Disappointed start to the weekend, but I hope to find some good news next week.
