General Smoke!

Right my uno's been off the road for over a year and it gets started every couple of weeks to keep it happy. I have never seen any smoke, white or blue, the engine is mint, or so i thought!

I started it on saturday and i let it run until it was hot before reving it breifly to 3k a few times. I noticed on each rev it puffed out blue smoke! It didn't smoke at all when i held it at 4k, just on the initial rev, which to me would suggest the turbo is to blame but; i cant see how anything would have worn out from the use its seen, so i'm wondering about the oil, and its thickness, its about 18m - 2yrs old!

Bottom end, head and turbo are new and have never smoked prior to going off the road.

All thoughts welcome!?

have you taken anything appart while its been off the road? i changed the manifold gasket on mine and when finished it smoked for a while then stopped as i had my oily hands inside the manifold and plenum so that oil was burning away, would be same with pipes maybe?

God you can hear a pin drop in this place recently! lol

I've been reassured on puntosports that as it was fine when i stored it, its fine now, and probably needs to be driven. Valve stem seals might have leaked a bit.

I was worried i'd revved it a bit hard on a few occasion and that as that it only smoked when you first rev it, the turbo was the problem. Steve pointed out on tick over it might not have the heat burn off the oil. I haven't touched the engine as it was better than fine, so i've stopped worrying now!

panic over, just get it sorted out and abusing everyone again!!

if you need a ramp to anything out for an evening my mate has a mint biiig garage full of all sorts of automotive engine fixy thingymajigs, hydralic ramp, air compressor with numerous abusive drills, air chizel (my fav! :devil: ), spray guns. just lemme know in advance cuz its got 3 ace minis in there at the mo (his an mine and a mini mk1 shell ) he'll do proper mates rates if we sort it out with enough time and he's the up and coming king of making rude exhaust designs, so a side exit wont be too hard for him to do :slayer:

Hmm i'd be happy for him to spray it tbh. It wont be until all the bits and pieces are ready, and i expect that'll be a month or two. Good to know though!
