smell after having exhaust fixed (welded)

hi guys
ive just had my cat welded where the cat attaches to the manifold but now the noise has gone ive developed a bad smell in the car, its like a sulpher kind of smell, anyone any ideas to what the problem is.

someone once told me that a smell like rotten eggs is a sign that the cat is on it's way out, I have never experienced it myself so don't know how true it is

Yes that's right,when the cat has gone it does smell kinda like rotten eggs.
I've had a cat welded before ontop of it and never had any smell after that.
Take it to a garage and see if they can yell wether it's on it's way out or not,but saying that if it was wouldn't you lack power?
