This is starting to drive me round the bend now;

I have an ever so slight knocking noise from the front when moving along and i'm struggling to work out what it is.

So far i have replaced;

- Drop links,
- Rear engine mount,
- Track rod ends,
- Shocks,
- Springs,
- Top mounts.

Is there any other "usual suspects"?

Last week I was convinced it might have been cheapo lowering springs i fitted (coils hitting) but i had them off again today and wrapped them with spring silencer tubing...refitted and took it for a test drive and its still doing it.

As i said its a slight knocking but enough for me to notice and for it to become annoying.

Any ideas?

Maybe l + R engine mounts?

Is the knocking noise a regular one .. such as a clunking driveshaft?

It's difficult to diagnose noises as what one person says is a knocking noise, another may describe as a 'thump'.

If, the noise you are experiencing is an occasional 'dull thump' (maybe particularly when you go over a bump/rough road) I think I would agree with Ben D when he mentions bushes.

Bushes can become soft and perished, but it's not always easy to spot a worn bush. Quite often the only solution is to replace it and hope that it's fixed.

I had a 1994 Cinq that used to thump and clonk from the rear. It sounded like an exhaust thudding on the underneath of the car, so I replaced the exhaust rubbers. It still clonked, so I replaced the rear shock absorbers ..

.. and in desperation I replaced the rear wishbone rubbers, which cured the problem. The old rubber bushes looked perfect .. but .. I guess they had gone soft with age.

No i can't feel it but you can hear it...its more like a tapping i guess.

I'm pretty certainly its those springs now as you could see where the coils where rubbing on each other when i had them apart at the weekend...wait for it...apart for the 4 time i mean.

Tired of it so have some cheapo JOM coilovers coming now which will hopefully cure it rather than experimenting with other springs.

I'll hopefully resell the shocks i have to someone else to offset the cost as they're good quality and shortened.

I will update at the weekend!
