sites with flash using 100% cpu

seems that whenever I visit a site with a flash based object [youtube, slide etc] my pc freezes up and its cpu usage goes to 100% for IEXPLORE.EXE

I have uninstalled and reinstalled adobe shockwave flash, no change.

It has been scanned for malware and virus's with up to date spybot and mcaffee, nothing found

It ran flash sites ok until just the other day, when it started to play up.

All other sites are fine


any ideas?

not a route I want to go down, its my partners pc ands its just less complicated if it runs what she knows best - IE

I'd say it was still spyware issue.

Infact scratch that, uninstall the shockwave player and install real java ie sun.

I see I came across with a slight attitide, sorry bout that!!



Anyways, I did a spybot scan in windows safe mode, that turned up a few things that it didnt find in normal mode, I uninstalled flash again, and reinstalled, still no joy - however I played with the security settings in IE relating to Active X Controls etc, and that seemed to clear it.

scrap that!! it cleared it for one attempt, now its back to not working and no amount of fiddling will fix it

I just uninstalled adobe flash and left it at that, it just shows a blank box on the page now whenever a flash animation attepts to show. The cpu stays as normal, and theres no drama. [and no flash lol]

She is happy with it, so that'll do for me!!

if it happens again, or you need to see the flash thing for whatever reason, You could try another browser, and if that works, use a skin to make it look like IE? I know theres some for firefox...
