I would be carefull how you manage this guy. If you give him the money for the tax disk that is an admission of guilt. He could then try and force more money out of you - basically blackmail you.

If you do give him the money make sure you destroy the tax disc. Also, do not give him any documentary eveidence that you admit to this disc being a fraud, such as an email - go and see him with the cash in your hand - for the same reason.

You obviously know this guy better than me, you have to make a judgement on what he is likely to do to cause you grief over this car. If he is the sort of muppet to buy this sort of car then I would be carefuly ;)

Ian, its his car and he will get the blaim for the Tax.

Its bugger all to do with you so tell him as much, He is obviously a blatant scrote as he bought the car in the first place. tell him to take a long walk of a short cliff and if he is stupid enough to get the DVLA involved deny all knowledge.

How much Tax did the advert say the car had?

Dodgy bugger

Ian,
you're now on dangerous ground here matey because the car has been off the road previously. For the sake of £88 pay the man - it would be worth it for peace of mind. But listen to what Nigel said and pay him carefully and make sure you get your handiwork back.

Personally I think you are a low life. If you'd have sold that car to me I'd have crushed your nuts with a pair of rusty pliers by now.

Regards,
Gcol

Re: Dodgy bugger

Sorry Ian but I'm with Bahney, Gcol etc on this one. Its bad enough putting a dodgy tax disc on your own vehicle, never mind selling it on to somebody else. Granted, none of us want to pay tax but unfortunately we have to do it.

More people dodging tax (road tax or any kind) means an increase for us honest folk.

Imagine if you would have had a smash in your Sierra (god forbid) and had been caught that way. I saw you drive back from Nottingham and could hardly say you were a 'careful' driver (no offence meant, but you know what I mean by overtaking 3 cars on thin country roads round bends).

Imagine if you had been sold one of your many cars with dodgy tax and had been caught not knowing it was dodgy. You would be fuming and who could blame ya?

Treat others as you would be expected to be treated yourself :)

Pay the lad up mate, but get the disc in return and burn it as Nige says.

Re: Re: Dodgy bugger

Yep totally agree with all you said and the phrase "treat others...

Re: Re: Re: Dodgy bugger

Quote 'destroy all evidence of the tax disc, no e-mails etc'

But it's all over the forum!!! Is this forum searchable by google? lol

So how much will you pay me not to send this conversation to him? lol

Everyone does these dodgy things but its a bit tight to directly effect someone else. If you get caught fair enough thats the risk you took. And telling him it had some sort of warrenty on the engine without explaining that's also a bit tight. Although he was a bit dumb for not checking!!!

Personally if this was me i wouldn't have told anyone until it was all in the past!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Dodgy bugger

Again guys, thanks for the reply. I know I shouldn't of done that but this was my 2nd car, and I only ever used it maybe once in a fortnight at the most. My other car at the time was taxed legitimately and I had run out of funds from fixing the damn thing to fork out more money just for a stupid tax disk.

I understand why I'm getting such a rollocking by some of you, I appreciate it a sense.

I'm still twiddling my thumbs about what to do.. Not YET wrote the E-mail.

Ian.

My E-mail reply to the guy..

"Excuse me?

#1 No they didn't tell me it was burning oil, and they definately did NOT say anything about head gaskets.
#2 Regardless about whatever they supposedly did say about the head gaksets, Money was no object at the time.

- If the gurantee only covers the crankshaft, then why did they sort my engine idle problem out, which obviously has nothing to do with the crankshaft. The car sometimes died when depressing the clutch, which they told me was the oil cooler or something along them lines, so they sorted it, no questions asked.

I never knew about the so called dodgy tax disk so I'm a bit peeved at that, understandably. (And obviously you are)

I know you've gone through a bit of stick with this car so I'm going to just send you a cheque for £88-

Your address is 199 Maxwell Avenue, Glasgow, G61 1HS

Confirm?

Ps. If you did send the tax disk back the DVLA, there's nothing they can do. It's the owner on the logbook who is entitled to make sure that their car is taxed legitimately.

Also could you please send me back the Tax disk so I can have a word with Phil, the guy who originally owned it and taxed it for me, thanks.

Confirm your address and I'll post a cheque first thing tomorrow morning.

I hope this is some consellation"

They honestly never said nothing about the rocker gaskets or anything along those lines. So he's talking out of his arse there, but still. I'm gonna be the grown up one for once!

Ian.

Re: My E-mail reply to the guy..

:) Nice one Ian - Sounds good to me :)

I just noted that bit about the car dies when you dip the clutch - My new uno does that sometimes - Wounder if its the same thing?

If all else fails - You could kill him - I charge £8000 if ya need someone lol

Mr Al.

Re: Re: My E-mail reply to the guy..

Idle Valve on your Uno, won't be the oil roller.

All you need is a screwdriver ;) don't ask me where the idle valve is though!

hehe.

Just gonna send him the £88-

Can't be arsed with the hassle!

£8000 uhrm.. lol. Well you've got his address, tell me when you've finished, ta mate.

lol

Ian.

Re: Re: Re: My E-mail reply to the guy..

nice1 ian i think you have done the right thing, maybie a phone call from you to the garage where you had the engine worked on to confirm the guarantee, it proabibly wont add up to much but at least you will be seen to be trying to sort things ou for him.

good luck mate and keep us posted

Re: Re: Re: Re: My E-mail reply to the guy..
