im thinking of puttin a sub in both rear quater trims on a mk2 punto wat should i need to do first? any ideas will be great help! and is there any pics of other people who have done this before i need ideas!

Sounds a touch extreme to me, but each to their own, I'd recommend not taking any passengers in the rear seats and a lot of sound proofing!...

I am sure someone has already done this, but I too would love to see pictures of such an install...

I guess you would need to replace the whole quarter panel with some sort of shaped and sealed box though, hope that is some help

Ye the practicality of this would be hard and time consuming and maybe quite costly if you were to attempt this yourself,

:chin: How much space do you have to play with?

well i was gonna cut the middle out of the trim the use glass fibre an mdf to mount the sub an mould into the trim. not sure wat size sub to use 10" or 12". there is quite alot of space behind the trim! iv seen someone put 6x9s in the but no subs!

Best to decide what size sub, what kind of amp you will be powering em with first in my opinion, then you need to make sure they wont shake your car to **** either, in my considered opinion as a non expert, you need to make sure those trim panels turn into sealed (or ported) boxes and that sound deadening is not skimped on, mk2 punto panels arent the thickest in existence by any means...not that I'm slating the mk2 punto, I drive one!

    Would the baskets of the subs be facing out or would the cone be facing out as if u were to have the baskets facing out (cant remember the term at this time of morning) then this might be easier  or is it me being silly

First you need to know what volume you have to play with :) Although I am 99.9% sure you won't be running ported - there just isn't enough volume.

well im gonna deff sound dead the pannels. but not sure if to box it in or seal it really well. the 'basket' will be on the in side cos i wanna still use the folding down of the seats. gonna use glass fibre to mould it in then carpet over that

what about free air subs? then you dont have to worry about volumes and stuff.

It could work, but you could be limited to a small number of subs - it also depends on the cavity they're played in in terms of if it's very well sealed etc. Playing IB does need a very solid baffle and the baffle needs to be mounted very solidly onto the body.

i dont see there been much problem with creating a solid mount in the rear quarter panels. out of alot of places i could think of, thats one of the strongest.

True, but it stilol needs to be right to get the best results and there can't be any leaks between baffle and body. I'm just wondering if the space available is large enough for the sub to act IB or whether it'd act as if its in a very large box....most IB applications use the boot.

are the side panels totally sealed?

hmmmm.

also need alot of sound deadening otherwise the outerskin will be vibrating like a washing machine on its spin cycle!

alot of work to do but could really work well if it gets pulled off!

iv heard free air subs arnt that good. im not sure wat sub an amp to get i was gonna get mutant cos i can get sub, amp an wireing kit for £85
