The bug to tinker with the 500 has already set in and we only ordered it last week! :D

Choice is between the side moulding with the chrome '500' in it or the Italy badge for the front wings above the side repeaters. I dont think the car can take both, so any thoughts?

What colour have you opted for and what have you already ordered ?
It's never easy and each time you 'customise' you'll end up with a different set of options !

Obviously down to personal choice but I think the side moulding spoils the lines (even if it performs a useful function) so I would choose the wing badges - especially as on other Fiat group products similar badges (albeit ones featuring prancing horses) cost thousands.

BNW, only option is 16" multispokes.

I would agree with RobinPJ. The mouldings do spolit the lines a little but if it is going to be a 'shopping' car then you have no choice but to buy them. Price is good when to go for the moulding with the 500 badge - it's a cheaper package. The Italian badges are great on top of the wings (RobinPJ (y)) but are put on 'after' - they're an accessory purchase. On another car that I had - the badges were on the back quarter panel low down but it had no mouldings.
It seems you're going for the pop model given the wheel choice. Are you going for chrome and chrome mirror backs ? Remember the chrome kit gives the chrome tail pipe (and important bit !) and the window surrounds (this cannot be retrofitted) although you would need to double check if this is the case 'down under'. There is now a trend away from chrome but it can look well.

Thanks, guys. Its looking more and more like the wing badges. It's the 500C Lounge BTW.

This is our 500 :) BNW 1.2 lounge with side rubbing strips and 16" multispokes. Personally I think the side rubbing strips looks good and really compliment the lines. If I were you I'd go for both, I've seen cars with the side rubbing strips and the Italian flag badge and it looks fine :)

I like that very much 306.

I wonder if one could go for both the moulding as shown plus a badge?

BTW 306, what's the building?

Cheers for that 306! Certainly helps to see it in the flesh.

The side mouldings are an optional extra for £105 and the badges an accessory for £50. Might be tempted to go for the mouldings and then blue tack on the badges and then maybe Ebay them if its a no!

I quite like the badges personally and along with the rear spoiler and the sill plates from the sport, it's on the list of things I'd consider doing to the car :)

You could get the side moulding with integrated italian badge. I have seen a few BNW with both side rubbing strips & Italian badge on the front wings & it looks great.
I'm with Maxi, without the side rubbing strips the 500 looks a bit slab sided.

It is great that there is some many ways to customise. This is the slab sided look or I would prefer to say the 'clean look'. By having no side protection your 'eye' is drawn to the badge. I wouldn't blue tack this on. Let your dealer order these for you and have him put it on. It is best if your car can be 'improved' by the dealer so that he cannot blame you if the wrong glue is used and the paint gets 'damaged'. The spoiler 'thing' its quite expensive when you factor in the painting etc. - this cannot be a factory fit item by the dealer (being reserved for the Sport). My one below has the tints which give it a little mystery and is a relatively cheap upgrade that cannot be retro-fitted. The one below is a Lounge with the upgraded 16 inch multispokes and it's in Funk white (not BNW).

Cheers for all the replies. Anyone got a piccie with both badge and side moulding? :D

'Maxi's' proposed spoiler...
Cut & paste the badge off my pic and you have the look.

This car is another member's car (my apologies to them for not acknowledging them). If you can find the car under members motors you could PM them to see if they have retro-fitted the badge.

I don't think Brad meant blue tack as a permanent fixture, just as a way of fixing them onto the car to see the how they look.

You're right Tony. That's the landlord thing in me when I heard 'blue tack'.
I was giving a mate of mine (who is a claims assessor in a well known Insurance company) a spin in my 'new' car over the w/e. He asked me had I done any mods to the car  and I say no but planning to. He said you have to tell them EVERYTHING about the car that has been added on after you have got the car off the dealer. This includes go faster strips, bigger wheels, different types of tyres (e.g. 'taking off' run flats) ECU upgrades (even if these are 'economy' ones) and so on. He mentioned the word 'Intent' (as in Intent to being a juvenille). His job is to refuse any claim against the company. There is a bit of history between myself and himself (before I knew he was doing a line with a friend with my wife's friend ) on a shoulder injury claim where he was the assessor (I had a windsurfing accident). He was tough. These guys are no push overs.
