hi,
hopefully someone can help. My Bravo 1.4sx is not well. When the engine is idleing, the car is shuddering like its fighting to keep running and I get an awful put-put-put noise from the exhaust. It seems to sit around 850 revs but the engine is shaking and shuddering and so is the exhaust. there seems to be a power loss under acceleration too. I've changed the plugs and filters but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas I can try before shelling out loads of cash to get it sorted?

all help greatly appreciated.

Don't know if this will help, but sounds similar to the problem i had with my 1.8 brava. Turned out to be a coil.

hope this helps

Huge number of possible causes. Does the injection warning light come on at all while the engine is running?

Does sound a bit ignition related. Might be worth changing the coil and plug leads.

Re: Re: Sick Bravo needs help!

happened to me too and it was really the coil. one of it was not functioning and there's loss of power with pathetic sound that comes from the the exhaust.

Re: Re: Re: Sick Bravo needs help!

thanks for the replies,

the engine management light doesn't come on, if it was the coil would it make the car cut out at varying intervals and be very poor accelerating?

any idea how much it would cost to get a new coil and where about it hides in the engine bay? why cant you find a haynes manual when u need one.

mulls.

My injection light never came on either. Did'nt cause the car to cut out and as for accelerating, i did'nt want to push it so took it nice and easy. Fortunately it was one of the things on my (almost useless) extended warranty.

cheers
