I had a bit of a read on it too, my local branch does a free test. I'm thinking of giving it a try.

Does anyone know how much discount your typical insurance co. gives you for passing it ?

I didnt get too much off my insurance premium- about £40, but I might not have chosen the best company for the IAM discount.

When you first start you get given a book...thats 80ish pages long. Im not gonna type that out for you

I havn't spoken to anyone who said it isnt worth doing and havn't picked up useful skills from it. Its nice to have a qualification that sets you apart from most other drivers.

Its meant to make you a better driver. However a couple of AM's I've met seemed to think it made them an expert on all aspects of traffic management.

An odd and slightly unpleasant side-effect.
