Hi,

I have a Fiat Coupe 1.8 16v and using it for trackdays.
I would like some shorter gears.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking about a gearbox from a punto 1.6 or an Alfa 145/146 1.6?

Thanks in advance.

Miguel

Why shorter gears, only makes more engine rpm. Oil is getting goddamn hot then. Shorter is possible if there is a 6-gearbox that fits, but that is nearly impossible

The goal is to get the engine to rev up more quickly. ;) The original gear ratios are too long for the track, which causes a lot of time to be lost when shifting gears or exiting corners. On the track, the car doesn't need to reach 200 km/h. About the oil temperature, we’ve installed an oil cooler, which helps keep the temperature down.

Well, than you can try the internals of a JTD or even a 1.6 ts (alfa engine) those Will fit 1 on 1
Idk if the bold pattern is the same… thats way faster🤣🫣

You could try smaller wheels and lower profile tyres. A set of wheels for road use and a set for track use. Advantage of going smaller / shorter is that your speedo will read high so when driving to/from circuits you won't get a speeding ticket. Meanwhile you a mark up your speedometer for true speed.

I can't recall how much hub/caliper clearance I had on my 20V Coupe but you may be limited to just lower profile tyres.

Revolution Wheels have the RFX ranges of wheels and they can to any size and offset. These rims are great for brake cooling. I put them on our 130TC for track work and they really made a difference, even more so if you can duct some air as well.
