Short shift possibility???

if the punto 1.2 gearbox is similar to the 1.2 bravo gearbox wouldnt the 1.2 punto short **** kit fit the bravo 1.2???

they only make quick shifts for 2000> gearboxes.

just something worth taking into acount. maybe get a 6speed box of a newer punto and put it in your car? then fit a quickshift

i mean a short shift to make a differance i know about cutting the stick down but that to me is just a shorter stick with the same gear distances etc, i mean one that enables a faster gear change. yeah mainly for lookcs but it would be nice for quicker changes.

If its just for looks just cut the lever down.

If you're using the clutch a short shift won't help you one jot.

i rember you sayin about the clutch before,why is this?

i mean why wont it help if your still using a clutch and how do you use it without using the clutch?

i know about shifiting without using the clutch but i think its slower and harder to change a gear.

The time taken to change gear is dominated by your foot pressing the clutch and your other foot lifing off the throttle. Its why racing drivers drivers change gear without it as much as possible.

Yes but learn on something that has a strong gearbox, ie not a 1.2.

Learning involves a lot of grinding and crunching gears.

i didnt realise you could change gear without using a clutch!

its not very advisable to do in everyday life lol, we use it at the tracks etc but it ****s the gearbox and clutch up, i always found flatshifting better but if you miss the clutch then its worse on the clutch than any other.

keep ure foot planted on the accelerater and stamp on the clutch as you change gear not before but do this in a stabbing like manner so as the clutch is down as little as possible, this will help on a strip or a track but is daft to be doing on the main road lol you wont have a gearbox after a couple of weeks.

does sound cool though when ure wheels spin ever so slightly at 60 lol.

Some cars can take 'clutchless' changes better than others, but I've not driven a Fiat that ever felt good doing it.
Best car for this I owned was an old VW Polo,(1979 model) many years ago, which took the punishment well.

Keep in mind that you should never try clutchless changes when going down the gears,
(although there's no point to trying that anyway)
