Hi all.

My Fiat punto 1.4 dynamic sport is hard to put into gear (not impossible) when engine is warmed up/hot. When it’s cold there’s no issue whatsoever. I’ve seen a lot of people mention the Clutch slave cylinder needs replacing.

I’m just wondering if anyone else knows what it could be or if it is indeed the slave cylinder?

If so where abouts is it located under the bonnet and is it an easy fix?

Thanks all

Hi,

Literally just changed the slave cylinder on my Punto Evo 2010 1.4 8v for exactly the same problem - and it appears to have worked. Only been a couple of days so far though....

The fault appeared on/off only when engine hot after a long run and previously I had tried bleeding the s.c. That did help noticeably. In the end I changed the s.c. as I think the piston / seal had gone and was likely 'leaking' (in) air as after a couple of weeks, the problem would re-appear. You might want to try bleeding the s.c. first, see if it helps in which case you know you're at least on the right track...

Like mine, it may well a hydraulics thing and I worked through the system step by step first checking for leaks, worn lines, linkeages, bleeding the system etc before paying for some new parts... In the end I figured the worst case scenario is possibly a worn pressure plate/ release bearing which does mean it's time for a new clutch kit...

There's a good How To for changing s.c. in the Guides section...

Good luck.
