....and idle vibration.
I'm sure there must be something up with yours as you've made that comment several times now and I wouldn't class mine as having that problem :chin: Interesting, I discovered they rattle quite bad at very low speeds if you disconnect the EGR system.

Hired a C3 on Sicily and must admit I was quite impressed. Got the poor thing stuck stuck down a severely (and I mean severe) rutted farmers track at a gradient of at least 1:3 up in the mountains. I got it out but don't think the clutch had much life left after I returned it :(

I read your comments about the EGR. There may be a difference when the connector is unplugged as the computer recognises a fault and tries to maintain low emissions. Blocking it off made no difference on mine, and it shouldn't because the computer doesn't know anything about it. Rough idle is usually a symptom of a worn injector and mine are well used so I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of other people have mentioned it also and I think it is just a feature of the JTD.

Sadly the C3 has been sold now. A great little car and very economical, but it is just too small for carting around the amount of junk my wife thinks the kids require whenever we go out.
What engine did the C3 have that you hired? You can definitely tell the difference between the 92 HP HDI 16, and the 70 hp 8 valve HDI.

As for this Vauxhall Corsa lark ive been reading about in another thread, don't you dare!

I won't, I promise.

;) Phew! My sister has a 56 reg 1.2 Club and it's really not good. It could of course be a 'friday afternoon' car, but it manages all of 300 miles to a tank of fuel & whilst it feels pretty well built, it's been off the road for 13 weeks since January 2007 when she got it.

First problem was a recall for something electronic, the part went on back order as all new Corsas were recalled (thats what we were told anyway) & the dealership had no courtesy cars left so sent her to a hire car place. Fortunately they did pick up the bill.

However at the start of April, she shut the passenger door one evening and the curtain airbag deployed  I thought it was hillarious as im not a big Vauxhall fan, but we were told that if the child seat in the back of the car had been occupied, the noise mightve damaged the childs hearing, which ain't too clever. It then took the dealership 7 weeks to rectify the fault, there was no courtesy car available, she was sent to a hire car place again (got a Grande Punto tho - wohoo) & she had to pay the extra £60 a month for insurance on the hire car.

4 weeks into the repair i called in at the dealership on my way home from a night out (6am on a Sunday) as we had not had a single phone call update from them, only to find the car unlocked with the drivers window open and glovebox open with CDs all over the seat. It was raining so the drivers side was wet. We phoned Vauxhall UK and were basically told to be grateful that it was being repaired under warranty, never mind any related faults that might surface once the warranty has ended.

After alot of discussion, we finally got the money back for the insurance on the hire car, but the car now leaks on the passenger side where the roof lining meets the door surround & the car doesn't like to start when the engine is warm.

Sorry for the mammouth post, but i wanted to show that the grass isn't always greener.

She's gone boys.

Spotted in the classifieds on this forum by a very nice lurker called Matt. He will I'm sure be joining the membership shortly. He drives a JTD and I think it's fair to say he's impressed but I will let him tell you all about it in due course.

A sad day for me but a great one for him. Enjoy.

:( iguess thats how you feel but oh well hope she goes to a good home

Sounds similar to what a friend at work went through, strangely enough with the exact same model. Vauxhall are another for terrible service, there's a few people at work that have them...3 Vectras, an Astra and that Corsa and they've all had issues. That said, the Vectra's have proved reliable mechanically, but the dealership experiences they've had have proved awful on almost every occasion, even for routine things like getting new tyres.

I know someone else though that lives 40 miles from me who has an old shape 1.0 litre Corsa and she's never had an issue with the car or her dealership. Again, a case of luck of the draw it seems as the same girl's father in law had a Vectra that had no end of electrical issues. The old shape 1.2 Twinport Corsa I once got as a courtesy car drove really well, but the fuel gauge didn't work, the interior fan didn't work and bits of trim fell off and this was a 1 and a half year old car with only 20,000 miles on the clock.

I have to say though, there is the odd Vauxhall I like, the Morano being an obvious one.

not sure what can you get for 8k as it must be less than 4 years old.
For me, get a pre-reg panda 100bhp!!
As for the renault, they are cheap to buy but the spare cost almost the same as BMWs and Audis, unreal!!!

Panda would have me back at the Fiat dealers, that ain't ever gonna happen. Could get a 57 reg Bravo for £8k but it's just not worth it. Not even for £5K.

Ok, so I just bought an 07 Megane 1.6 Extreme. Black, 5 door with two years warranty remaining from a Honda dealer. 1st service thrown in with 1 years tax for £6800. Nice experience apart from having to pay that is. Collect this Friday :)

Blimey Bozzy, Can understand you going for a Megane but surprised you've moved back to petrol

There (unfortunately) seems to be or have been alot of Vauxhalls in our family (Cavaliers, Vectras, Astra Mk3 & Mk4s, Corsas Mk1, 2B & latest shape & Vivaro) and most have been ok, it's the latest Corsa, one of the Vectras & the Mk4 Astra that havnt been good. The trouble is that if im buying something that's as boring as a Vauxhall, i at least want it to do something better than a make like Fiat, & with them not even being THAT reliable or well built, i might aswell stick with a Fiat & get something nice to look at while im waiting for the AA  (even tho ive never had a breakdown in either of my Fiats) (y)

Sounds like a decent deal Bozzy. My only concern would be did the previous owner p/x it for a Honda? If so, why have they felt compelled to buy a make that's renound for it's reliability such as Honda? I hope to God it's not coz the Renault was built on a Friday afternoon, just after a pay cut had been announced.

That crossed my mind too, will have to wait and see. Still has two years warranty so hopefully that gives me some protection.
