My GPS didnt seem to like it, needing topping up more often than on Selenia but these days I use AC Delco plus, brilliant stuff, engine is smooth and quiet and good on juice. It take 3.9 litres of oil but if you let it drain for a good long time it will take 4 litres to be perfectly on max. I dont know that part number but the Filter is about £7 from a dealers, the same part covers both the 8 and 16v petrol engines.

Incidentally, the garage that did our 500s service, Carstins Fiat now use 5w30 Castrol fully synth.

I will be doing an oil change on the 500 before the 'ring trip and have a 4 litre bottle of this

how much does an oil change need 4 or 5 litres?

also does anyone know the oil filter part number for a 1.4 16v 500?

Rob, it looks like the 1.4 (inc filter) is 2.9 Litres so that leaves you a litre or so for topping up.

ENGINE OIL CHANGE
1.2
8V 69 HP 1.4 16V 100 HP 1.3 16V Multijet 75 HP
Engine sump 2.5 2.75 2.5
Engine sump and filter 2.8 2.90 2.8

dont I feel like a plank, it is indeed 2.9 litres, why the hell did I put 3.9, noone listen to me lol! ive changed my oil 3 times you would think I would know by now haha

That's nothing, on my first oil change my dealer put 4Ltrs into my 500 and when I queried it I was told that the oil (Selenia WR) only comes in 2 litre containers so I had to have the four litres.

As well as overfilling the engine by 1.2 litres I was also charged for 4 litres. When I asked why they couldn't just leave the balance in the container and put it in the boot for topping up (which I have never had to do) or so that next time it was serviced I would only need to buy 2 litres they just gave me a pained look, like I was being awkward.
