I have recently bought a 1979 Spider 2000 CS2. I am having some trouble sourcing parts in the UK,. I am aware there are specialist suppliers in the US but shipping and import costs make this very expensive. I know that the 2000 twin cam engine was used in some other cars, such as the Lancia Beta.
Does anyone know if any Spider 2000 CS2 car or engine parts are common to other makes/models of car. For example, a water pump/coolant hoses? All help/advice gratefully received. Eddie

I find the eBay compatibility tables veery helpful. Search your car. get a part number. Googel it and see what is described. Go on ebay and search then look at the tables. You can get cross referenes and work out whats what. You can buy from buyers who accept returns as final insurance against the wrong part.

There are quite a few UK suppliers, Middle Barton, DTR etc. There is some interchangeability with Lancias BUT you have to know the spec differences
All of this is the joy and pain of owning an old car!
Spiderpoint in Germany have nearly everything repro but £££ and you could have a short holiday for the shipping costs.
Spider drivetrain is similar to Fiat 131, brakes are fairly similar to X 19, but seals kits, discs and pads readily available on ebay.
Seating/Trim stuff hardest to find and expensive, I bought a new fabric roof from UsA but £100 shipping, then import taxes
Headlights are same size as classic mini, Minisport used to do Cibie replacements for about £30
Can give you more ideas if you need something specific, but if you havent got one get a Haynes manual (ebay) and go from there!
