Technical shakes and bounces

Hi there, I hope, you can help me. I have just bought at Fiat Panda 1,2 from 2009 (model 2004). When hitting about 65 km/h it starts shaking or bouncing. The shop changed the tires, that helped a bit. But the problem is still there and now they tell me, that it is something that particular model does and that I just have to accept it. Can that really be true?​

Mine doesn't. For a cheap small hatchback, the ride is surprisingly smooth.

I think your car is faulty, and the shop is trying to avoid fixing the fault.

First thing is to make sure all four wheels are balanced correctly. If they are, then it's most likely going to be a worn suspension component - which is not unusual on a Panda of that age. Any competent shop should be able to identify the cause and fix it easily.

They're talking out of their posterior orifice.

Could be a tyre out of true or a bent wheel. Do you get any sense of where the source of the vibration is? Also, try bouncing each corner of the car in turn - that could show you if there's a failed shock absorber.

I get why the shop would say that the car bounces, because it does when coming to a stop, but not like you're describing. Pandas tend to give a little rear bounce, which is normal.

It sounds to me like a shock absorber problem and they're trying to get out of fixing it. As said, bounce each corner, but also jack the car up and check the shocks for any evidence of fluid leak. This is an easy fix and they should repair it for you.
