Put my car into the garage for its service yesterday, got it back feeling and driving really well.

Jus went to the garage and it was chugging a lot and no power sounding cr*p. Looked under neath and there was a small drip, so checked the dip stick and it was totally dry.

"SERVICED" yeah right....will be going bush with them tomorrow.

the drip is presumably from the sump plug, suggesting they've re-used the copper washer and its not sealed right :S
They MAY have done your car serious damage Matt mate!
i re-use the washer when i service my own, but then, i'm not a professinal garage charging myself a lot of money for whats essentially a fairly simple job if you have a haynes manual.
you defo should go ape and do the village tomorrow.
dont drive there with no oil!

fill her up

If you have to drive the car there then fill her upto max with oil and see how fast it drips out, then make a call on how far you can drive her before filling up again.

Having said that, motorbikers don't care too nicely for people leaking oil on the roads!!

oil isnt too bad, kinda fun, like ice skating rolls eyes , diesel is the worst!

yup! try hitting diesel at 70 on the motorway on 2 wheels...wahaaay!!

The garage is pretty much directly across the road from me so no distance to be driven......thankfully

I took my Polo to a VW dealership for a service a couple of years back. When I picked it up they asked me who'd worked on the car last as there was no oil in the gearbox. As it happens no-one had been anywhere near it since they serviced it the year before, they'd forgotten to put any back in and I'd been driving around all year!

Just got ma wee car back and the dude said levels are all what they should be oil etc, he can find no leak and computer isn't registering and faults. Seems a bit weird that it acted the way it did and there was (what seemed to me) a drip/leak underneath and dry dipstick. just need to wait and see a suppose.

Theres no copper washers on Fiat engines, they use a 12mm allen key thingy.

Speaking of oil changes. I remember when someone I know decided to service their car whilst on holiday. He didn't have the right size socket for the sump plug so he decided to undo the oil filter, start the engine and let the engine pump the oil out until it was dry!!!! Still starts and drives fine, guess he was lucky, and stupid!
