Service Jibberish????

Hi all

Just had latest service done on my HGT at 44418 miles.

I've got the report back from them & in the comments box at the bottom reads "Rear Subframe, N/S rear mounting bush split".

Is this BAD, VERY BAD OR REALLY F***ING BAD?

The grease monkey told me it would be quite an expensive job as something would have to be removed/seperated & the bush would need welding. He also said in a few months it would fail an MOT?

I thought bushes were supposed to removed quite easily, but not as the case may be, in his eyes.

If any one has any comments, please respond.

But, has anyone also got any ideas if i'm being ripped off with the grease monkeys comments.

Is the bush replaceable at a cheap cost or not?

I thought bushes were cheap rubber little items?

That was my understanding of Bushes also.

Yup, to me a bush is a small rubber device (or a shrub type plant or something else entirely) and certainly don't need welding.

Mountings need welding. If its just the bush gone then its a case of unbolt the rear subframe and replacement. Do all at once, if one has gone the rest will follow soon.

Tom,

If thats the case & it means unbolting the rear subframe & replacing ALL the bushes (not the prickly ones ;)). How much of a job would you be talking, ie Price / Time-wise etc?

Not a clue, would guess its not a DIY job as its probably quite heavy. Maybe 1hr, 2 tops. Depends if the exhaust & fuel tank need to come off first.
