General Seriously angry.... What to do??

You can try calling Fiat Customer Services - I did so several times during my own frustrating and extended wait. Not sure how much is sped things up (not at all I suspect) but it made me feel better. I didn't bother taking out on my dealer as felt it wasn't his fault and nothing he could do either.

I was also told that the scrappage scheme was causing long waits for some people who weren't using the scheme. I tend to believe it to be true and interesting that you have had an actual admission of this!

I dont think my money is worth as much to them as everyone elses...

I think its totaly out of order that scrappage scheme cars are taking priority over cars ordered before them:mad: it should be a first come first served system, not supprised your upset.

chappette for the record, and not feeling too reasonable right now!

Quite justifiably so though. You're getting your car 3 or 4 months later and that's a big thing. If it were a few weeks I'm sure you wouldn't have been happy but it wouldn't have been fair to be really really angry.

Firstly, my sympathies go out to you as this news would have done my head in and probably cancelled my order if I was a private buyer.

its official..... direct from fiat customer care

scrappage are getting priority!

:(
Secondly, as a scrappage buyer, I still think scrappage orders taking priority is very poor. We are all in a queue, excited about getting our cars and you shouldnt be rated second...

Hmm.... I bet there is 'statistics' behind all this. Fiat are probably gunning for statistics from somewhere. If not then its the depleating government funding pot they are after

Couldn't agree more. I was a scrappage buyer too.

Exactly how I felt. Admittedly I ordered a 500c but even so my 6 month wait was a bit over the top:eek: I was going mad each time I read on here about someone getting their car (especially a 500c) who had ordered way after me as just seemed so unfair. During my wait I was told the car was built and then a month later told it wasn't built afterall because it had accidentally been pushed down in priority from customer order to dealer stock order (I head this from Fiat CS themselves). Am sorry I can't offer more than my sympathy and the promise that it is worth it when the car eventually arrives.

:) The thing is people seem to take someone being slightly irritated on a forum as being a sign of aggression. Some people like myself just like to express ourselves in an open manner. For instance, the forum Stasi look down upon anyone expressing a negative view about what someone does to their car. Too often someone will say "I don't particularly like those stripes/wheels/exhaust etc etc" and someone (usually not the person who owns the car) will mistake it for "You idiot!!! That strip/wheel/exhaust is ****ing disgusting and I think you should be shot"

*shrugs*

ok... so i've calmed down.... a bit..... and rung a few people, fiat head office, customer care, the people in charge of the scrappage scheme, office of fair traiding, consumer direct and every one else i could think of, even thought about ringing the newspapers to tell them about scrappage taking priority... but didnt

i admit i've gone slightly crazy today but i digress and everyone has palmed me off onto somebody else apart from consumer direct were very helpful and told me my rights.. i can still cancel and get my deposit back as fiat are in breach of contract and wouldnt deliver within a reasonable time... yarda yarda yooo

anyhow... when i spoke to another fiat garage locally, none of their orders have been put back due to the scrappage scheme, especially when i ordered in August, most people who ordered around then will be getting cars in the next month or so, and there is no nasty surprises lurking on the system, they checked.

So im all ready to cancel and find one second hand, as my current car is falling apart around my ears and i dont think it'll survive the winter...

suddenly i get a phone call from my dealer, saying they have somebody who has ordered a 500 after me but were due to get it before me and is still changeable, so the dealer has swapped the orders.

Which is bad for whoever that person is but good for me... swings and roundabouts i guess. but then i thought that this is the second time my delivery date has rocketed to february, so maybe my dealer is swapping orders around left right and center, which isnt very fair for anyone...

Or am i just on a witch hunt now???

I'd be rather upset if someone got 'my car' because they had made a lot of noise about theirs taking a long time.

Ask them if they'll be ok if you don't pay until 6-8 months later because another company were making a lot of noise about their payment not being made for a while :D

I'd tell my dealer to stop messing with peoples orders! I'd then wait for HO response (I presume they've raised an issue and given you a number?). And if they don't come back with a reasonable delivery date or compensation I'd take my deposit and grab that second hand one.

But that's just me... let us know what you'd do! :D

If you want to do something I would call Fiat up and tell them what your dealer has done. It's likely that they did it to your order for someone else. It is completely unacceptable to be swapping around orders like this and Fiat should be giving them a rap over the knuckle for it. Do it for the other people that your dealer is going to **** over.

no i didnt order with rayrigg i wish i had of done though, went for the dealer nearest to work...

It sounds to me like they forgot to place your order (n) and didn't realise until it was too late. Hoped that you would be happy to hear that you had another 3-4 months to wait (which is the standard time for a brand new order!) and then we taken by surprise when you weren't!!

Hi everyone,

Bit of an update for you all, after a long hard think, we decided to cancel the order, it wasnt fair on anybody, including the person who's delivery slot we were about to nick and i just didnt feel right ethically about the whole scrappage situation, especially as all of those who ordered around the same time arent being hit as much, and other dealers we spoke to seemed to think it was very out of the ordinary.

I have rung fiat and lodged an official complaint about the garage and i'll let all of you know who it was as soon as i get my deposit back. which the garage has agreed to do.

I then rang every fiat garage within 50 miles of home to see what the had as demonstators/stock/showroom models.... and ive bought a pasadoble red 500c with a blackroof, and we pick the beauty up on saturday, Shes going to be called poppy.

Thanks everyone for all your advice, now ive got to super research the 500c :D
