Hi there, though I have an Alfa Romeo Mito 1.3jdtm (95hp, 2011 model), The fiat forum seems much more knowledgeable then other places and I think they share the same engine so I was wondering if anybody has had the same issue:

When the car is regenerating the DPF, thick, grey/white, diesel/oil smelling smoke comes from the engine bay.

As an example, the car has started a regenation about 4 minutes before I pulled into the petrol station to get some fuel. In the 3 minutes I was there, the car looked like it was on fire with the amount of smoke coming from around the bonnet, and when starting the car, thick grey smoke poured in though the vents. There is no obvious oil leaks. There is no exhaust leaks (checked by mechanic)

When regeneration is not occuring, there is no smoke or noticeable smell in cabin.

Is there anything common on the 1.3jdtm engine that could drip oil or fuel onto the DPF? Anywhere in particular I should check for leaks?

Many thanks.

Drew
