I’ve got a 2007 x250 2.2. And it’s been really Struggling to start over the past few months to a point where it has drained the battery. Keep getting a very strange electrical smell from the front so today I investigated over and found this. Any ideas before I strip the front of the van off!!?? IMG_2558.JPGIMG_2559.JPGIMG_2561.JPG

It certainly looks from the pictures that is where your problem is.
It may well be rodents but could also be chafing or stone strike etc.
Make sure assuming these cables carry starting current that they have the correct cross sectional area. If undersized they may have caused the problem.
Again looking at the pictures have you had a short due to where the cable has been run?
Once repaired all should be well.
I would think a complete cable with the correct terminations is needed.
Stay safe.

IMG_2568.JPGthe solenoid has completely burnt out and I’m being told that part has changed for the cable harness (1347783080) which was two pieces? To (1358492080) one piece that runs down from main fuse box to starter to alternator. IMG_2480.JPG
New.
