average speed of just under 60mph (57mph) (given 95% of the road is a 70 at night with close to no traffic to stop you in between the main roads thats a very slow average speed) gives you a 200 mile journey time of bang on 3 and a half hours

i know i easily can do glasgow to aberdeen in a not that long over 3 and a half during the day

All respect if you can average 57 mph over a 200 mph journey. Took me 2 hours 50 mins to do 150 miles (approx) with road with hardly any traffic and that is pretty much bang on with what the sat nav said, well I think I done it 3 mins quicker.

And according to google, from glasgow to aberdeen is 145 miles and it takes 3 hours 13 mins. So you are covering an extra 55 miles around the same time.

Who me? never...

But remember it's pretty much 70 mph most of the way so covering 200 miles should take you 3-4 hrs max if you drive between 60-70 mph. 5 hrs if you time it wrong and hit rush hour but I can't see that happening late on a Saturday night

Did you hit rush hour in Newcastle or something? It's a nightmare at the best of times

Na left at 6pm bank holiday hardly any traffic. And again according to google (at least is a scientific based calulcation) 152 miles and it takes 2 hours 52 mins. I know you will always be quicker than what google stated, but not by an hour quicker...

2hrs 50 for 150 miles would mean if you did 200 (approx) miles it would take just over three and a half hours like im saying

57mph average is very easy when of the 200 miles point to point approx 90% of it is 70mph and theres not traffic on the road to interrupt (and thats assuming you stick to 70 which is what the calculations are based on, 100% legal speeds)

edit, just checked aberdeen to symington on google maps, total journey time 3hrs 37

You were either abducted by aliens or someone tampered with your motor and made it look like you were doing 70 when in fact you were only driving at 40 mph :D Tis the only way I can see a 200-odd mile trip taking 5 hours especially at that time of night.
But it was nice to meet you :)

Aye twas nice meetin you an all Katie :yes4:

Oh & from about Sterling untill past Kirkintilloch was 40MPH with Average Speed Cameras.
And I'd been on the road since about 9ish that morning, didn't sleep to well at the travelodeg in Dundee the night before so that kinda added to my tirdness.

Sit at 100 :) and it would be shorter lol

Dubster won't do 100MPH James.
I won't say on here what speed I've had him upto, but it was more than 70MPH

5 hours to do 200 miles...at night?

were you stuck in reverse, andi?

Don't know.... just know about 5miles north of sterling my eyes felt heavy, hence stopping at Sterling Services for about 30mins...
From about Glasgow to home, normally takes about 1hr.... think it took me 20mins...

Ok plan was to head to Haddo House for this. Sods law though, there's some performance or another on that night.

So we can either chance our luck of getting near the place and getting parked, or I can think of plenty other places nearby :)

should hopefully be jumping in with martyn for this.

That is unless i am tempted by the baywatch theme night at the union for freshers week...hmmm

Thinking that if Haddo is gonna be heaving, which it no doubt will be, Collieston - between Cruden bay and Newburgh - is another good alternative.

Anyone else wanna join us for this? It's only a week away but our mini meets up here are always a good laugh :)

As Steve says, this is maybe something that can be tried elsewhere!

Plan for Wednesday guys - meet at the main town car park (opposite the New Inn) at 6pm for 6.30. Thinking Collieston would be a nice short drive once we're all fed and refreshed!

Saw will be there. Got a reply from him today.
