My lowering springs turned up today (finally). I'm no expert but I'm assuming the shocks have to be removed to take the springs off? I'm thinking if that is the case, I might as well get some new shocks all round?

In 2.5 years of ownership I've only so far changed 1 shock. Well, not me personally but you know what I mean :) Tom on here always seems to portray that they don't last long anyhow.

Where's best place to purchase? Any particular brand I should look for or will oem/equivalent do?

Yes I have used the search thank you :p

You should notice a diffence to the ride if you change the shocks. Would be good if you could get a set matched to your lowered springs, failing that aftermarket shocks from you local factors should last at least 2 years.

Your shocks will be worn out, get new ones.

KYB gas shocks are about the best value for money. You only need special lowered shocks if you're going really low.

I wudnt buy KYB again after one spewed its guts after less than 9k and 13months-yet they only give 1yr warranty and didnt want to know. Look for cheap OEM boges on eBay.

which come with the same or less guarantee!
KYB are OEM on many many cars :)
your the first to have a problem, which is pretty bad luck for you...

Insy, id replace the shocks aswell mate, KYB are good from all reports :)

www.buypartbuy.com have them mate :)

will alos in some respects make lowering it easier as one of us can put the new springs on the shocks while the other is removing the ones on the car :)

there are just some people that screw you up and dont give a damn, unfortunately i seem to have found that one!!!

Mine will be getting lowered soon as well, am I right in thinking that when I change both the shocks and the springs, I can build the unit off the car, but I won't need spring compressors, as I am using 35mm lowering springs, so the top nut of the shock will easily fit on.

Am I right? Or will I need spring compressors??

Oh and Insy... www.buypartsby.co.uk ...£99.50 delivered for all 4 ;)
