alrite every1, im after a few more bhps? ive fitted an induction kit to my 1.2, wud a cat back system help? mayb changing the factory seats to sum lighter bucket seats? i cnt at the min afford engine transplant but is in mind lol.
wud be grateful for advice

rob

Updated exhaust would definately help increase the air flow adding maybe a couple extra bhp, as for seats I don't think it would make too much of a difference in weight. Upgrading suspension would help with handling allowing for more speed through corners.

Besides the obvious it would be more into engine work which is abut pointless on a 1.2 so engine swap is a good idea if you can do it fairly cheap.

I want to do a 20vt conversion but I don't have the know how or know of someone who does...or have the money haha

mite do the exhaust n springs thn n c wot happens. sounds good m8, wudnt mind 1 meself lol but like u say, its buyin the engine, gtin it fitted n upgradin eveyfing b4 u no it theres a few bills lol,
fnx for the advice buddy

oh yeh how low wud u tke it? 30mm 35mm?

cheers

Why dont you source a 1.6 engine there will be less working involved in the swap and if you can get the 1.6 from say a V plate you can play with them quite a bit ShaunCo has his RR'd at 124bhp, thats chipped, uprated manifold, on coilovers, a few other things i think.. started out as a 1.4 then 1.6 and then another 1.6. ask him im sure he will advise the same. Other than that its HGT or 20VT time.

just take that 1.2, go to angeltuning and let them loose on ur car, remap it, few hundred pounds lighter and ull have a pretty damn nippy 1.2

i put a 1.6 in my car and as karl said tuned it 124bhp, thats a ECU chipped, 421 manifold, SS exhaust and a BMC CDA induction kit.

1.6 Engine

Hiya Shaun.
Didnt realise you'd dropped a 1.6 in yours.
Whas is it a big project??
Mines a 1.2 and i'm starting to want more power.
Did it have a big effect on your insurance??
Any idea how much roughly the whole convert costed you?

I hate to say it (again) but the cheapest and possibly most sensible way would be to just buy another Bravo with a bigger engine. Will cost less than all the conversion work and be cheaper on insurance as the modifications to a 1.2 will likely be far more costly than insuring a 1.6, 1.8 or HGT.

OI! Road safety nutters!! George Orwell ment '1984' to be a warning, NOT a template!

What if?

What if your 1.2 is a minter, low milage, rare colour, bodywork is exaclty how you want it??
(This is my predicment)
Surely in this situation an egine trasnfer is a better idea??

ahhh, the 1.2 predicament ;)

I Had my 1.2 for 5 years and I still swear the best mod I did was by accident the first time around ;) Get a Punto gear box... no affect to the insurance or the power, but there is a noticable difference! Still remember when I pulled out of LFE services for Trax as convoy lead! altho all the other cars had bigger engines, she still picked up her skirt and went!

Also, as said, dont push for too much power, work on the handeling and stopping! Mine had nice stiky Toyo tires, full spax shocks and springs and mintex break pads, along with an induction kit and cat back exhaust! Alot of the guys on here know the old girl, and will attest to the fact it could stick to the road...

Im now on a HGT... its more a noise thing than anything else!

fnx for the ideas, i dnt wnt to sell her cuz gt sentimental value lol. but i fink ill go 4 the simple mods 1st untill ive saved up enuf to start finkin bout diff engines n stuff. mayb in the summer pay angel tuning a visit

lee, the conversion cost me nothing, i did it myself. bought a rear ended bravo for 300quid, and did the conversion. didnt have an effect on my insurance, made it cheaper because i had to insure it as a 1.6. power wise it made a massive difference. but running wise its killing me right now with the mods. i get about 33MPH through day-to-day driving. 300 mile out of a 50quid tank if im lucky

still the best thing iv ever done
