Well the cheque is on its way for the wheels... they said they would get me the wheels in and get them fitted etc... i said "no way"..
They were adamant that they were gonna do it this way and i told them well OK if you wanna do it like that fair enough.. but if you wanna save a few quid then just compensate me for the damage and i'll keep the wheels...
He said "how much we talkin about here then?"..
I told him I wanted £400 for the damage..which would cover the cost of refurbishing in the future... he contacted the insurance and all is agreed..
by the way its Kwikfit i've been deeling with...and I have to say..once I got in touch with the area manager they were really good about the whole thing..
Turns out the nobhead that caused the damage has done this sort of thing before...I feel quite bad now cuz he's just got sacked over this..

Or you could look at it as, he got some free alloys at the cost of someone's job, but then if he has done it before he could possibly do it again.

If the nobhead had done it before, he should have learnt first time round!

I must admit, I do tend to avoid Kwikfit anyway, but at least they came up trumps in the end

Worst thing was.. i took the car to another kwikfit branch on friday to send a fax to the area manager, and they were astonished that the guy had managed to mark the wheels, he used the wrong tools..but saying that he did ask one of his seniors to help out at one point and even he didn't know what to do.
I think I went to the wrong branch in the first place...but then again if i didn't go there I wouldn't have got my alloys so cheap

Oh, come on, lets not go all Nanny State about this, we all have responsibility in our lives, fitting wheels isn't rocket science, if the guy can't be trusted to this, why should Kwik Fit pay him to do a job he isn't capable of?

People are sacked in unfair circumstances all the time, this however isn't one of those instances.

BTW, I have used the Gosforth branch of Kwik Fit for all of my cars, and have found them to be excellent, in terms of service, quality of work, and their second to none warranties.
