Technical Self coding ecu?

he needs a new one quick , however she took it to a garage nearby ,
Is it a common fault on the mk2 1.2 8v?
As i have had many mates (usually women) that get ripped off at garages as they dont know what they are on about... how can i tell theres a fault with the ecu , will there be a fault recorded ?

having taken these ecus to bits im of the persuasion seeing as the wires are thinner than a human hair that for long term longevity they are NOT repairable

for anyone interested these ecus are rarely found in scrap yards as they are bought on mass usually by the poles and then virginesed to run on any suitable punto

the ones advertised on the bay that ive used have worked fine but i normally send my own ,off a scrapper for virginising rather than hoping the scrapyard one didnt have an inerrant fault and is the reason vehicle scrapped

you now virginise these via eobd port if you have the proper tackle or for the polish €200 tackle you do a bit of pin connecting direct to ecu

I am having a huge issue with mine at the moment.... I am stupid, and opened mine because curiosity gets the best out of me, and snapped most of those pesky wires... I can't seem to be able to solder them back for some reason, it's as if they were on aluminum or something alike. With your experience, have you ever been able to solder/desolder anything inside? If so, have you removed the sticky gel inside? With what?
Am I royally screwed?

Some wiring can be impossible to solder (classic way, tin-lead). It was probably resistance welded (or soldered with "hard solder" or so).

PS
Show us the pictures (those broken wires etc., ECU version, as a warning to others).

Which one is it?

Here... This is a cautionary tale kids, of why it's important to research first before doing something you have never done before... It hurts in the eyes, but well, at least I learned that it's easier to buy a different one.

So, it seems that I will be buying one of these self coding ones.... any idea how I should search for them? Mine are the following, and I found one on Ebay for the exact same code IAW59F.M3, but I am not sure if the same HW### matters.... can I get a .M5 instead? Can it be .VG or something different than M3 or M#? Does the model matter at all or is the form factor the most important part?

You need same code but hw303 is a better replacement.
