Before i start i have read through lots of threads & no1 seems to have the same problem (altho i might of missed one)
i have had the Arbarth awhile with no real problems apart from the usual kangorooing when cold.
The other day i set off from the lights pretty sharpish in auto mode.
changed to 2nd no probs, then 3rd.
next set of lights stopped, light came on dash g-box failure and car went into A2 gear.
pressing accelerator engine just revved up.
i put it into manual and it went to 2nd gear but same problem.
tried to get car into neutral but it didnt want to.
next step turn engine off and try again.
exact same prob.
managed to get it into neutral and to push it off dual carriage way.
then disconnected battery for awhile.
on start up no warning on dash until i tried to put it in gear. the g-box fail message. cant get any gear to work.
i could hear what sounded like a mechanical rattling so gave up & towed home.
sorry for the essay & boring u.
got myself a copy fiat scan and plugged in.
had a few errors logged forget which (i know didnt have a pen & didnt want to leave lappy in car)
any way cleared faults & disconnected batt again over night.
on opening bonnet i noticed the oil resovoir had pretty much filed itself up to full capacity. Never seen it do that before.
once battery was reconnected the pump started and the fluid went to where it should, now the fluid was a little low.
so now i find out the mechanical noise is infact the oil being thrown back into the resovoir via the top oil pipe (not the breather)
got into car tried to change gear & same as before.
read the errors only fault now is brake pedal switch (which was there before as well)
so im thinking next step is new switch (any1 know best place to get 1?)
then selespeed oil is in bad condition so needs draining & new adding.
so next question is where do i drain it from?
