Technical Seized engine - advice needed

If the engine does indeed seize then you "can't" recover anything expect the sump, & extra bits like water pump etc.
Because, if it seizes then most likely there will be bits of metal in the oil which may have been carried around the engine, meaning you'll need new parts (including engine) to ensure that oil feeds are clear including all pipes to oil cooler if you use one. (practice we use on all race engines).

Although for a road car you could un-seize it and keep it running don't think anyone will care much. Depending on why it seized of course. But anti freeze or something to free the pistons then re-bore the engine. but you'll need to clean the oil channels with something strong.

If it was a rare engine, you'd take the trouble -- there's a picture in Guy Croft's new book of a piston being forced out of a FIAT twin cam block with a hydraulic press -- to get any bits that could be re manufactured back into the parts chain.

But FIRE engines are so commonplace at the moment that only an ecologist would take the trouble.

The OP's engine didn't seize. The Alternator did.

I have never heard of a FIRE engine seizing before so i think you are safe. The oil pressure light will come on if the oil pump fails and the engine will sound rough. You won't have long before the engine seizes but it won't be instantanious.

£3,000 for a brand new twin-air engine for comparisons sake.

£65,000 for a Maserati V8 or how about £21,000 for a BMW V10?

Recently helped to fit a V10 to an M5 only to discover the engine was perfectly fine and it was the gearbox ecu that was chuffed.
