Can any body help me? I have a Seicento sporting which will not start. The back ground is as follows.

1) Over heated as radiator failed. Replaced radiator.
2) Still overheating and air in the coolant header tank so head gasket replaced (inc timing belt).
3) Still overheating which was eventually traced back to cooling fan switch.

Whilst ticking over, warming the engine up to test all is OK for the second time (so it had been running for 20 - 30 min) it just cut out and has not started since.

I have checked the obvoius, fuel & spark and checked that I have not left anything unconnected but it still will not fire.

Bit of a long shot put has the inertia switch been activated?

It happened to my car, its unlikely but possible.

I forgot to add the whilst the enginee does not start it does turn over and tries to fire.

SPI = MK1 sei 98 - oct 00

MPI = MK2 sei oct 00 - end of UK life

Whichever year yours is will determine whether it is SPI or MPI

I have now recharged the battery and can confirm that yes I can see fuel at the intake when it is cranking over.

hey, im a woman in need of some help!
Ive got a T reg seicento sporting and it recently was in a little prang, i bought the car and i didnt come with a user guide just wondered where the fuel inertia switch was?
I'd be very greatful for any help!

If you have a spark (check with a plug lying on the cylinder head while cranking) and fuel from the injector (not sure what you mean by the inlet) or the plugs are petrol damp after cranking, then it's likely that the cam timing has jumped (especially as the head has been off).

Some day we'll put a flowchart together....................

@Fingers - Cough **february post** cough

@csmartie - maybe better to have started your own thread..but its on the inside of the car, under the dashboard, just slightly to the passenger side of the middle of the car. Get under there with a torch :)

Cheers,

Kristian
