Tuning Seicento Track Car - Punto 75 Engine

This sounds like exactly what I'm looking to do with my Schumy - a quick question tho - I'm getting confused about what head to use with a P75 - some people say use the MPI Sei head and others the P75 head - I'm looking to get the best performance and reliability with the easiest of conversions - is that possible? :)

4 year old thread :p

Use P75 head (better shaped ports & 866 cam already fitted) along with P75 inlet gasket and mpi sei inlet. Swap all the pulleys over along with the oil pump, buy a late 1242 cam belt (Panda, Punto, Doblo) Use your rocker cover for the cam sensor. There is a hole lower down in the P75 block for your knock sensor.

That's what I'm talking about! Good man! Thanks.

Was the P75 engine only available in the Punto? It's getting difficult to find these engines now.

Only the 5 door MK1 Punto came with a 75 as far as I know. (But most were P60's)

Someone has a complete car for sale for £100 (Coventry) on the Fiat Cinquecento & Seicento Tuning UK Facebook page.

They will fit yes, not so much power though. Also avoid the newer ones (Euro 5?) in the Grande Punto/500 etc as there are several complications.

If you want a 1242 (60) swap you can directly fit a Punto MK2 or MK2b one. As far as I know nothing would need to be changed, it would drop right in.

That is the best option for ease, if I were to do it again I think the *best* option imo is to get a MK2 bottom end (as long as the bottom timing pulley teeth are the same) that way you can use the punto alternator and there will be no need to remove the sump and swap the oil pump, plus it has the correct hole for the knock sensor. It uses the correct crank pulley to match the seicento cam pulley therefore the right water pump too.

Combine that with a P75 head and 866 cam and run it on the seicento inlet, everything should be fine and dandy. Slightly more power than a normal '60' as well :yum:

For a track car, I'd just drop a mid period "cam sensor" Punto 2 1.2 engine in. It'll have the cam sensor and knock sensor you need. The injectors will have the right impedence. For power, look at a C & B cam, porting (maybe bigger valves) and a 16v Punto or Bravo TB and either stand alone or Det 3 management.
