well carrying on from my previous thread about the car not going above 3.5k..

i changed lambda and MAP... didnt help

took her to the garage and shaun (the garage man) said its probably the ECU.. then he did nothing more on it because they had mechanics off sick n stuff

so i was talking to pete (serin) and he offered to drive allllll the way up here with an uncoded ECU to see if that might fix the problem

well it didnt, and it feels worse, it now doesnt go above about 2.5-3k and judders and im sure i could hear some sort of banging or back firing or something when it limits at 3k..

im completely at a loss!

Its a sensor problem, so Shaun will have to get the meter out and check the nominals. It could be water temp sensor fooling the ecu into thinking the car is too cold or too hot. It could be the throttle position sensor giving the wrong reading. It could be the air temperature sensor.

These are where I'd start.

Cheers

I agree. Could also be the crank/TDC sensor.

this sounds like the problem i had last year. I got the crank sensor & cable changed [£50] and its been fine (touch wood) ever since.

:( this sounds like the way my sei is going.... not fun, hope you get it sorted, so I have a place to start my investigations if mine gets any worse.
(Mine's currently sticking out at 6k, but feels very flat at 3.5k - which shouldn't happen on an mpi afaik).

As above, my TDC / crank sensor went and it wouldn't rev. Ok at low revs, but wouldn't advance up.
