Technical Seicento Mk2 1.2 16v Conversion Advice

mariocinq - Hi Mate, I hope you're right but I'm guessing that the problem may come about due to the Seicento engine mount being a different shape?

We'll find out soon enough, we have all the required bits from the Seicento 1.1 8v, Punto 75, Punto Mk2 1.2 8v and Brava 1.2 16v engines that I've got, so we can try all the different permutations.

ricky seicento - I'm afraid that I've already got someone who wants to buy my complete Punto 75 MPI setup but if it falls through I'll let you know.

I'm swapping as I want the extra power that the 16v gives, once it's in and running i'll be turbocharging the engine too. (fordcosworth on the forum has shown me the light and given me lots of useful advice on the subject. :) )

Cheers.

Cheers Todger182, so it's the 5mm difference with the oil pump that necessitates the grinding of the engine mount. (y)

The oil pump is what makes the difference for the crank position sensor, the wideness would come from either the crank or the crank pulley.

I think the crank pulley is slightly wider, but can't remember as I never checked the difference on my old 8v engine.

I'm using a seicento alternator pulley on my engine, but as I said my enigne never had aircon so the oil pump was very similar.

Has anyone ever checked the crank on a 1108 compared to the 16v cranks? More along the line of, is the pulley mounting slightly longer on the 16v?

Thanks

X
